Flatland by A Square (Edwin Abbott Abbott)

£5,500.00

First published in the late 19th century, Flatland is a novel about a square living in a two dimensional world who is visited by a three-dimensional sphere, as well as visiting a world of lines and another which is just a single dot, written by English schoolmaster Edwin Abbott Abbott (pseudonymously ‘a Square’). It is also a brilliant satire of the class systems present in late Victorian society. This amazing edition was published in 1980 by Arion Publishers, San Francisco, and reproduces Abbott’s text in one very long panorama, which can be opened concertina-style, and which is housed in a lockable aluminium case. The edition includes illustrations by Andrew Hoyem and an introduction by Ray Bradbury. One of an edition of 275, in an excellent state.
