£5,000.00

First edition. Quarto, in original brown wrapper with green lettering on the cover. 30 x 21.5 cm. 1988. The title page has been signed by nine of the participating artists.

The exhibition catalogue for the now legendary exhibition Freeze, curated by Damien Hirst in 1988. It was at this exhibition that Charles Saatchi was first introduced to the work of many of its participating artists, and Michael Craig-Martin, who was teaching many of them at Goldsmiths, managed to convince curators Norman Rosenthal and Nicholas Serota to visit the exhibition, marking the start of an engagement that would culminate years later in the Royal Academy exhibition Sensation. Freeze included works by: Steven Adamson, Angela Bulloch, Mat Collishaw, Ian Davenport, Dominic Denis (who is included in the catalogue but was not, in fact, in the show, Damien Hirst having decided his work didn’t cut it), Angus Fairhurst, Anya Gallaccio, Damien Hirst, Gary Hume, Michael Landy, Abigail Lane, Sarah Lucas, Lala Meredith-Vulja, Richard Patterson, Simon Patterson, Stephen Park and Fiona Rae.
