Platform by Michel Houellebecq

First UK edition of the controversial French author’s Platform, which has been much praised by the literary community and much criticised by the public, who not-unfoundedly have accused the author of Islamophobia. The book was published in 2001 (coincidentally, just a few days before 9/11), and its final chapter presciently describes a terrorist attack that is very similar to the 2002 Bali bombing. A hard-cutting, fuck-you type of literature that is hard not to like if you read it.
