Ulysses by James Joyce

A lovely copy of the Odyssey Press’ coveted two-volume edition of Joyce’s classic, and probably the most important literary achievement of the 20th century. Rarely seen in such nice condition, with just a few minor creases to the cover and the spines stained, but clean throughout and with the binding tight. First edition thus, first printing, from 1932. The Odyssey Press’ edition was the first version of Ulysses published after Sylvia Beach gave up her exclusive copyright, with the text revised by editor Stuart Gilbert, at Joyce’s request, the Beach version having included numerous omissions and errors that were here brought closer to the author’s original manuscript. Joyce later referred to this as the ‘definitive standard edition’.
