Yoko at Indica: the Unfinished Paintings and Objects

£2,000.00

This is the catalogue printed for Yoko Ono’s first exhibition at the legendary London Gallery Indica, run by John Dunbar, which in the 1960s was the best (and one of the only) spaces in the city to show serious Contemporary art. It was one of Ono’s most radical exhibitions, held in 1966, and is of particular significance because it was there that the artist was introduced by the gallery’s owner to his friend John Lennon. He came in while Ono was installing the show, and mistakenly ate an apple that had in fact been one of the exhibits (titled ‘04 Apple 1966’ in the catalogue). The catalogue’s design is innovative, with various writings included and a fantastic image of Ono all in black on the cover. The exhibition ran for just ten days. Super rare, especially in such Fine condition.
